Derek's profile
Proof-check.com was set up in 2003 by Derek Hibbert following a long career as a senior manager in local government. Derek then looked for a way to utilise his expertise in Business English and writing reports for government committees.
Initially, Derek helped his children and their friends by checking assignments and dissertations whilst they were at university. He was then asked to provide a service to students at the local university. Seventeen years later, his service is still helping students achieve their goals by improving their understanding of English and academic writing, particularly those students from overseas. 
As parents, we are aware of the limited budgets of students.
Our aim is to provide low-cost support to students in a professional, flexible and friendly way. |
Diane's profile
Derek's wife, Diane, joined him in 2010, bringing a wealth of experience having previously worked with International students at a university for more than 13 years. Prior to that, she worked in the public sector in a variety of roles.
She has first-hand knowledge of university requirements for assignment and dissertation submissions. This is supported by her expertise in the preparation and presentation of documents. Diane assists Derek with proof checking and is also able to provide transcription services for students, who have recorded interviews, focus groups or lectures, as she is a qualified audio typist.
